I was at the Maker Faire in San Mateo on Sunday when I ran across Steve Wozniak sitting in a dunk tank for the Electronic Freedom Foundation. The idea was simple, pay some money, throw a ball and get a chance to soak Steve Wozniak with water.
How cool is that?
You might think Steve is quite a good sport to do this, but what you may not realize is that the water dump was leaking a lot of water. That uncomfortable look on his face was not the fact he was about to get soaked, but the fact that he's being dripped on constantly as a form of localized water torture. It was bad enough this was happening in front of the Microsoft Pavilion. OK, I lied, that was a building away.
The first few pitches were not very good. Then out of nowhere, a short, future Randy Johnson fires a shot through the hole, knocking the water bottle loose and deluging Steve Wozniak with nice, cold water.
This experience alone made the Maker Faire worth it.
