Pyro Boy is available as part of a show, a spectacular, heck even childrens parties. Due to the nature of the show, there are a few requirements in order to stage a safe show. Pyro Boy and the Vixens is also available for interviews. Pyro Boy is always willing to discuss issues such as fire performance, fire safety and the legalities of fireworks.
Because pyrotechnics are involved, issues such as fire safety, permits and insurance are also going to be involved. The show has been performed successfully and legally across North America, but in general it requires a few minor things.
Preperation Time
It takes a minimum of two weeks to prepare for a show. This is to allow for scheduling, securing permits, meeting with the Fire Marshal, securing materials and other incidentals. A show can happen earlier, but the cost of securing materials, permits goes up substantially.
It takes approximately 5 hours of preparation time on the day of the show. However, once the prep is completed, several performances can happen in quick succession.
Site Inspection
Depending on the location, the site may need to be inspected before a performance can happen to look for any obvious safety obstacles.
Fire Marshal
In general, you need to have permission from the Fire Marshal or the authority having jurisdiction over people who like to light themselves on fire. As an act, Pyro Boy has a very good safety record, so permission is generally granted without too many reservations. In general a Fire Marshal is concerned if a member of an audience is injured, but not too interested if the performer is badly burned. Pyro Boy has a fire and pyrotechnic safety plan available which adheres to the fire safety guidelines used by most fire departments in the world.
In general, the Fire Marshal is your friend. They are far more than a walking rulebook, they are your public relations cheerleader. If something happens, a Fire Marshal is there to prevent something from happening and if a freak accident occurs, they are the ones that will clearly show an accident is an accident and not a sign of negligent fire safety.
Permits
Call it job security, but the Fire Marshal is most likely going to insist on securing a permit for the use of fire and pyrotechnics. The cost is reasonable, but it goes up substantially if purchased less than two weeks in advance.
Some jurisdictions do not require special permits for the use of pyrotechnics. If you have any questions, check with your local Fire Marshal.
Insurance
If Pyro Boy is going to be performed indoors or around people, insurance is a very good idea. In some jurisdictions, it is a requirement. If you already have insurance, we can help add a rider to your existing policy or we can supply insurance.
Fire Safety
Fire Safety is always a concern when performing. That is why we have a detailed fire safety plan and techicians who are trained on how to safely handle pyrotechnics.
Space Requirements
The bigger the area provided, the more people can watch at the same time. However, there are some minimum distances for safety. In essence, you need to keep audience and flammable equipment back at least 50 feet from Pyro Boy during a performance. You also need to make sure that there are no flammable materials overhead during the performance.
Shows can be safely performed indoors. All that is needed is an adequate ceiling height free from any hanging banners or flammable materials. Good ventilation is also a thought. We can select pyrotechnics that would be adequate for the venue.
When preparing for a show, the crew needs a safe place out of the weather with access to electricity.
We also need an area that can be secured away from the general public for storage of flammable materials.
